About Özyeğin University
Özyeğin University was founded by the Hüsnü M. Özyeğin Foundation in 2007 with the goal of offering world-class education, as well as creating, developing, and sharing knowledge, and transforming the knowledge created into innovations in the service of society and humanity.
In line with its collectively-shaped vision, Özyeğin University offers an innovative structure, a robust sector-orientated approach, and original academic programs firmly grounded in this approach. Özyeğin University welcomed its first students onto its Altunizade Campus, Istanbul in September 2008, and moved to its Çekmeköy Campus in 2011.
High-Impact Graduates Who Make a Difference with the Entrepreneurial Spirit
Founded with the vision of entrepreneurship, Özyeğin University imbues its entrepreneurial spirit in all its units. The University aims to prepare its graduates not only as professionals, but also as “individual”, “corporate” and “social” entrepreneurs who will serve as role models for new entrepreneurs and take up pioneering roles in the entrepreneurship ecosystem. In the light of this vision, OzU students start their own businesses while they are still pursuing their studies, or, with the career consultancy services they receive from OzU’s Professional Development team, and the Sectoral Solutions course track, they hold the potential to make a difference for their employers with their entrepreneurial spirit.
Comprehensive Scholarship Opportunities
Özyeğin University believes that all students, no matter what their circumstances might be, must have access to high quality education. In the 2017-2020 academic year, 86 percent of all of the undergraduate students at Özyeğin University hold scholarships. The University also launched the Scholarship Program for Equal Opportunities in Education in 2015. Today, 110 students with limited financial resources are pursuing their studies with full scholarship at Özyeğin University within the scope of the Scholarship Program for Equal Opportunities in Education. The University currently has 6 faculties, 2 vocational schools, and 3 graduate schools, offering a total of 23 undergraduate and 33 graduate programs.
Research-Focused Innovtive and Entrepreneurial University
Embracing the mission of third generation universities, Özyeğin University placed sustainability and its goal of “fostering research in the service of society” at the core of its strategic priorities. Today, the University produces original, creative, and applicable knowledge through numerous projects and patents developed at its research laboratories and centers led by its distinguished faculty. Firmly preserving its number one position since 2012 in the Turkey’s Most Entrepreneurial and Innovative University Index prepared by TÜBİTAK among Turkish universities founded after 2000, Özyeğin University also makes significant contributions to social development through a rich array of collaborations with leading organizations from different sectors.
Çekmeköy Campus
The Özyeğin University Çekmeköy Campus is a quiet, peaceful, and tranquil university campus. Created by a leading architecture firm, the OzU Çekmeköy Campus accommodates Turkey’s first LEED-certified buildings. Situated on 280,000 square meters of land, the campus offers all the amenities and facilities necessary to foster students’ academic development, and their exposure to social, sportive, and cultural events, through its quiet and comfortable study rooms, modern classrooms, and laboratories, 15,000 square meter Athletic Center, 2,825 square meter library, and its two auditoriums with a 350- and 372-person capacity, respectively.
